For the hotspot operations, the device should be reachable on its IP address and port 44158 and when the device is not reachable on that port, helium would report the status of the hotspot as “relayed”.
The status “relayed” means, the device has to be reached p2p via another hotspot that is near you and accordingly, the performance will be impacted.
To resolve this issue, please do the following steps:
- Ask your ISP to open port 44158
- Reserve IP for hotspot in your Internet Router
- Do port forwarding for reserved IP
- Turn off UPnP in router
Then Check nat_type
in your Hotspot, it should be “none”
